This is an uncomfortable situation, but one that exists. Many companies’ marketing policy is to bump existing units in addition to competing for new locations. When this happens, one of the options in addition to pricing is to change the service level as an incentive for the customer to remain with your company. This is where a second unit or a second service can be used to your advantage.
If the customer is near by so that travel time is minimal, a second service at a special rate could be an effective block to having the unit being bumped. If the customer is far from existing service locations and you have available inventory, than possibly a second unit for the office trailer for a specified period can act as a deterrent.
