Septic service in the residential market has been a customer-demand service. Typically, septic work is a result of a customer’s call for service due to
Problems
Sale of a house
Responding to a mailing reminding them that the septic tank needs to be pumped
Shopping for the lowest price and fastest service.
The problem with this work is that, since your business needs a minimum number of jobs to maintain your cash flow, it requires that you expand you service areas. A large service area usually means more travel between jobs and lower profit margins. It costs a lot of money to drive a truck around, e.g.., insurance, fuel, tires, payroll, etc.. It would be nice if you could pick a geographical area and sell a service to a significant portion of the customers so that you could send the truck into the area, service several homes that are near each other, and minimize travel time between jobs. A way to accomplish this is through the "Contract Service for Septic Tank" approach.
