Searching

TAC gives you many ways to search for information in the system.

  1. Search Forms

  2. Search Tabs on a Form

  3. Search Controls (Blue Magnifying Glass Button)

  4. Rapid Match on Site and Customer Master

Search Forms

Their are over 12 search forms built into the TAC system so you can look up information with a minimum of effort and once found, quickly access that information so it can be managed, i.e., edited or printed.

Search forms have a control box with fields you can used to narrow your search. The search results are placed in a grid, which shows a list of records that match the search you entered. Within any grid, you can

  1. Double-click on an item in the list to go directly to the edit tab to view the details of the item selected.
  2. Right click to bring up the action menu. Depending upon the data you are looking at, you can print, mail, edit, view, go to site master, or view customer master for the entry.

Search Tab on a Form

The Search tab on an individual form has all the same features as the search form, with the added feature that when you are editing a specific entry and go from the Edit to the Search tab, the Search tab re-configures itself to view only the selected item from the search or related entries.

Search Controls

A search control is represented by a small magnifying glass on the a form. It is usually to the right of a specific field, i.e., work order, site number, customer number, rate code, etc..

When you select it, a search form pops up, so you can select an entry for that text field. When you double-click the selected row, the control disappears and the field to the left of the blue magnifying glass is populated with the selected entry.

Rapid Match on Site and Customer Master

The Site and Customer Master have several special fields used for a rapid match on site number or customer code, name and address.  These rapid match fields have a yellow background color and can be typed into.  If there is an exact match for the information you type into the match field, the site or customer master will populate with the matching site or customer information.
