TAC allows you to have multiple short cuts on your desk top. This way you can have one shortcut to the trial system and another to the production data (your company’s data). This saves a lot of time switching database locations.
To activate this feature you need to change the Target line of the TAC shortcut icon by adding the database location information.
This is the standard target line for a TAC short cut:
“C:\Program Files\Clear Computing, inc\TAC.exe”
To point to the sample database, change it to look like this:
“C:\Program Files\Clear Computing, Inc\TAC.exe 1, C:\Program Files\Clear Computing, Inc\Data Sample”
To point to the production database, change it to look like this:
“C:\Program Files\Clear Computing, Inc\TAC.exe 1, C:\Program Files\Clear Computing, Inc\Data”
The number 1 stands for Visual FoxPro relational database. If you substitute a 2, the TAC system will look for a Microsoft SQL database at the path specified.
Vertical Private Network Connection (VPN)
You can use this same command line control to use VPN connections. You would replace the path with the file naming convention \\server\directory and TAC will locate the files and work. Please note, that this type of connection may work faster then using a shared local drive.
