You have to have the correct latitude and longitude (Lat and Lon) of your sites for mapping tools to work properly. When using our trial system, we give you 100 uses for all of the mapping tools. Microsoft gives you a 60-day trial for MapPoint from the day you install it. This is for evaluation.
1) Go to Main Menu: Site/Customer > Site Master > Sites.
2) Select the site that you need to map.
3) Make sure that Address1 has valid road info, and that it is spelled correctly.
4) Make sure that there is a state in the State location.
5) Click on the Map tab. (Note: If there is a Lat and Lon oin this form, then the software will us the Lat and Lon and not the street address).
6) Click the Map button.
7) You should see the map with a black dot on the map to represent where the service location is.
These next steps are needed if either the mapping software could not find the location or if you are given multiple locations.
8) If there is a white box with other locations, choose one of them.
9) Then you should see the black dot on the map.
10) Click the Find button on the top.
11) In the find box, give the search box a cross street, the city and the state.
12) Click Find.
13) The software should either then find the correct location or give you different locations to choose from.
14) Once the block dot is in the correct place, click Save.
15) If you have to place the location manually (may be required in new construction), right-click on the map.
16) Then right-click, and click on Place Point Here.
17) Then click Save.
18) When you go back to the Map tab, you will see a Lat and a Lon have been filled in.
