Creating Backup of TAC Data

Instructions are different depending on whether you are running Windows XP.  Please verify that you are using the correct instructions.

If you have Windows XP: Creating TAC Backup

  1. Take a new blank CD and write date and “CLEAR BACKUP" on with marker.
  2. Place in CDR drive.
  3. Create a directory “backup” on the CDR drive.
  4. In TAC, go to Admin>Data Base Utilities. Select the Organize Files tab.  Browse for the directory “backup” on the CDR drive.
  5. Press the Backup Files command button.
  6. When completed, remove the CD from premises.

If you do not have Windows XP, follow these instructions:

The default location for the TAC data is in the folder:

 C:\Program Files\Clear Computing, Inc\TAC 2004

Within that folder there are two other folders

We recommend that you backup the TAC 2004 folder and all its sub directories as follows:

1. Have everyone get out of the TAC application

2. Make a copy of the TAC 2004 folder to a directory on you local PC, within a folder called "BACKUP".  This creates a duplicate of the data quickly and you can then allow other users to access the TAC application.

3. Using any CD-R software, create a backup CD of the C:\BACKUP\TAC 2004 folders onto the CD.

4. Label the CD with a permanent marker and remove the CD from your location.

To verify the backup copy of the data, simple start the TAC application and switch to the C:\BACKUP\TAC 2004\Data folder and all your customers should be there.
